Cable operators of Nepal have banned the broadcast of Indian news channels.
“After the internal rumors started circulating on Indian news channels, cable operators of Nepal have decided to shut down the broadcast of Indian news channels“, said Dhruv Sharma, vice-president of Max Digital TV.
Sharma said, “Operators having permssion to broadcast foreign channels in Nepal have shut down Indian news channels for spreading rumors”. Only operators with foreign channel permission have stopped broadcasting Indian news channel. Cable operators like Dish Home, Max TV and other operators have shutdown Indian news channels.
Apart from Indian news channels, other channels broadcasting from India have not been banned from broadcasting. Only Indian news channels have been banned from broadcasting.
This issue arised after some Indian news channels linked Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanchi spreading rumors.
